Exploren is excited to announce a major step forward in regional EV accessibility, securing 12 new EV charging sites across New South Wales as part of the NSW Government’s $5.9 million EV Destination Charging Grant.
As Australia’s third-largest EV charging network, Exploren will expand charging coverage across some of NSW’s most iconic regional and coastal road trip routes. Areas where EV drivers have historically faced limited access to reliable charging.
These sites will feature 60kW and 120kW DC fast chargers, giving drivers the confidence to travel further with shorter stop times and dependable infrastructure.
The NSW Government’s EV Destination Charging Grant is designed to boost regional tourism by encouraging EV drivers to visit towns that have until now lacked the charging infrastructure needed to support long-distance travel.
By filling these gaps, the new stations will help increase visitor numbers, extend traveller dwell times, and bring economic benefits to local businesses across multiple LGAs.
EVSE, Exploren’s parent company, will deliver all site installations in line with NSW Government requirements. Once complete, Exploren will fully operate, monitor, and maintain each location using its industry-leading management platform.
For years, gaps in regional charging have been one of the biggest barriers to widespread EV adoption in Australia. These new locations mark an important shift toward a more connected, confidence-driven charging experience for both local residents and road-trippers.
“Regional charging has long been one of the biggest barriers to long-distance EV travel in Australia. These new sites will give thousands of drivers the confidence to explore further while supporting tourism in regional towns. We’re proud to partner with the NSW Government to deliver the infrastructure that accelerates EV tourism and strengthens local communities.” Says EVSE CEO Brendan Wheeler.
Faster, more reliable, more accessible charging is consistently one of the top requests from regional councils, tourism groups and communities and this project directly responds to that demand.
Minister for Climate Change, Energy and the Environment Penny Sharpe, said:
“The Minns Labor Government is investing another $5.9 million to supercharge sustainable travel
across regional NSW with another 159 new chargers, all powered by 100 per cent renewable energy. Whether you live regionally or are setting off on a road trip, the new chargers open exciting opportunities to travel further with confidence.”
With these new chargers, EV drivers will enjoy smoother journeys across NSW’s most scenic routes while local communities gain the benefits of increased tourism and economic activity.
Exploren is proud to play a key role in building a more connected, sustainable future for regional Australia.
